Rule, Britannia ! A Celebration of British Music

Zabbar’s most awaited music event has finally arrived!
This year the Maria Mater Gratiae Philharmonic of Zabbar, in association with the Zabbar Local Council, will be offering a fascinating show dedicated to British music on Sunday 12th May, at the Notre Dame Theatre in Zabbar.
Inspired by the idea of the Last Night of the Proms, Rule, Britannia! shall be a celebration of British music with the Maria Mater Gratiae concert band performing a variety of well-known music ranging from classical to contemporary such as the military march Colonel Bogey, Purcell’s Trumpet Voluntary from the Baroque era, Nimrod from Enigma Variations, Jupiter from The Planets of Gustav Holst, the legendary You’ll Never Walk Alone, Spice Girls’s 90s hit Stop, medleys from the immortal bands The Beatles and Pink Floyd, Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, Adele’s Skyfall, and Elton John’s Candle in the Wind. The concert will come to an end majestically with Rule, Brittania!, Land of Hope and Glory and the National Anthem God Save the Queen.
Together with the concert band there will be also singers Amber and Chris Grech, tenor Joseph Aquilina together with the Amadeus Chamber Choir and Romina Vella’s Children Choir.
Renowned presenter Elaine Saliba will be presenting the show.
The concert starts at 19.30pm. Being an inclusive voluntary organisation, entrance for the event will be free of charge. Donations at the door will be however very much appreciated.
